The present volume, the fifth in the edition, presents Proclus' commentary on the Timaeus, dealing with Proclus' account of static and flowing time; we see Proclus situating Plato's account of the motions of the stars and planets in relation to the astronomical theories of his day. The volume includes a substantial introduction, as well as notes that will shed new light on the text.

I per travar un paral·lelisme amb les peripècies autodestructives de l’acció, es va arriscar a més a una estructura formal ambiciosa i audaç de la qual cal destacar dos recursos. Un és la creació d’un cor de veus narradores, que alambinen la novel·la com un calidoscopi de lletres, frases, capítols, i l’altre la inclusió de poemes, atribuïts a aquests personatges, i de fragments i evocacions de cançons de l’època, per acréixer la versemblança i aprofundir el context. És aquesta diversitat el que engalana Cavalls salvatges amb una trama de llenguatges plena de transgressions, de matisos, de troballes i petites joies literàries. La revisió per a aquesta segona edició, per tant, s’havia de fer assumint que l’autor de la novel·la original se’l va endur el vent ja fa vint anys, però que calia preservar el cos de la seva obra, i polir només el mínimament indispensable. Tot i així, l’elasticitat del text actual i el pròleg de Matthew Tree, després de l’aparició de Formentera lady, que pot considerar-se’n una segona part, animen de nou els lectors a aquest gran convit literari.

He is among the inaugurators of what today is characterized as the Afro-Surreal, uniting the surrealist practice of automatic writing with the jazz concept of spontaneous composition. He seldom wrote his poems down and often discarded those he did, leaving them to be rescued by others. He was also a legendary figure of the Beat Generation, known as much for hopping on tables to declaim his poetry as for maintaining a monastic silence for months or even years at a time. Kaufman produced just three broadsides and three books in his lifetime. In 1967, Golden Sardine was published by City Lights in its famed Pocket Poets Series, and became an instant cult classic. Collected Poems is a landmark poetic achievement, bringing together all of Kaufman’s known surviving poems, including an extensive section of previously uncollected work, in a long overdue return to City Lights Books.
